Abhishek Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav, and Brian Bennett Nominated for ICC Player of the Month – September 2025

Indian cricketers Abhishek Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav, along with Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett, have been nominated for the ICC Player of the Month Award for September 2025. All three impressed with some outstanding performances last month, playing key roles in their teams’ victories. Abhishek and Kuldeep were the cornerstones in India winning their ninth Asia Cup title, while Bennett was in great touch with the bat and helped Zimbabwe qualify for the T20 World Cup 2026 after they had failed to book a place in 2024.
Men’s Cricket Stars Nominated for ICC Player of the Month – September 2025
Abhishek was the star of the Asia Cup, finishing as the Player of the Tournament. He scored the most runs, making 314 in seven innings at an average of 44.86, and batted with a strike rate of 200. On the other hand, Kuldeep impressed with his bowling, taking the most wickets in the tournament, 17 in seven matches.
Brian Bennett also shone for the Chevrons, putting in some big performances. He scored a total of 497 runs in nine T20Is, averaging 55.22 with a strike rate of 165.66. He made a strong start to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Regional Final, scoring 72, 65, and 111 in his first three innings.
Smriti Mandhana, Sidra Amin, and Tazmin Brits Shine in Women's Cricket
The nominees for the women's award were also announced. India’s Smriti Mandhana, South Africa’s Tazmin Brits, and Pakistan’s Sidra Amin made the shortlist. All three had an excellent month and played some outstanding cricket. Mandhana scored two centuries in the three-match series against Australia, including a record-breaking 50-ball ton in the final clash that was the quickest by an Indian in the ODI format.
Sidra Amin topped the charts with 293 runs in just three matches, averaging an incredible 293. She smashed an unbeaten 121, followed it up with 122, and then added another unbeaten fifty in the third ODI, helping her team secure their only win in the series, even though it was a dead rubber.
Tazmin Brits was also in brilliant form for South Africa. She scored 272 runs in her two innings and was named Player of the Series. The opener notched unbeaten scores of 101 and 171, showcasing her dominance throughout.
