“11 Match-Winners”: Ben Stokes Downplays His Absence from Fifth Test
Ben Stokes, the England captain, is out of the fifth and final Test against India due to a shoulder injury sustained in the fourth match. Despite his absence, Stokes insists that England remains a formidable team.
“Every player in our lineup is a match-winner,” Stokes said. “I may be the captain, but I rely on the collective wisdom of the team. One person doesn’t win or lose a game.”
Stokes has been a standout performer in the series, scoring over 300 runs and taking 17 wickets in the first four Tests. His absence will undoubtedly be felt, but he remains confident in his team’s ability to secure a series victory.
“Winning or losing isn’t about one individual,” he added. “Our players have shown great skill and determination, and they have another chance to win in the final game.”
Ollie Pope will lead England in the decisive match at The Oval.
