The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) entered the IPL with the goal of finally scoring 300 runs in an innings. They played with a fearless style, but it also caused problems. In IPL 2025, even with one of the strongest batting lineups, SRH could not reach the playoffs. They finished sixth, failing to build on their runners-up performance from the previous season.
SRH then made a bold move by trading Mohammed Shami to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). This trade freed up ₹10 crore from their budget. Now, SRH will enter the IPL 2026 auction with a good purse of ₹25.5 crore the third-highest after KKR and CSK.
Sunrisers Hyderabad already have one of the best top-six lineups in the league, just like the Mumbai Indians. With Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Ishan Kishan, Nitish Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen, and Aniket Verma, their batting looks scary for any team. Bowlers often look helpless against them.
Since SRH have released players like Abhinav Manohar and Sachin Baby, it’s clear they want a stronger and more impactful player at number seven. One dream option is Andre Russell. If SRH somehow get him, the team will look almost unstoppable. But it may be difficult because KKR and CSK have big purse amounts to compete with.
If Russell isn’t available, Wanindu Hasaranga would be a fantastic choice. He can bat anywhere, and his leg-spin is well known. SRH could also pair him with Harsh Dubey, giving the team a left-arm spin option as well.

SRH now lack a strong powerplay fast bowler. They traded Shami to LSG and also released Simarjeet Singh, which surprised many fans. With Harshal Patel, Jaydev Unadkat, and Pat Cummins, the team still doesn’t have a proper new-ball strike bowler.
SRH need at least two new fast bowlers. One of them can be a foreign player. Matt Henry and Josh Tongue are good choices. Since Pat Cummins is the captain, he might also bring in Ben Dwarshuis or Jason Behrendorff, who has been the top wicket-taker in the BBL for the last three years.SRH also need an Indian fast bowler, and Chetan Sakariya or Akash Deep could be good options.
SRH should also look for an Indian spinner and some backup Indian batters. Among spinners, Ravi Bishnoi should be their top target. SRH like bowlers who can slow down the scoring rate, just like Harshal Patel, Jaydev Unadkat, and Brydon Carse in their team. Bishnoi did not have a great IPL 2025, but he is still a high-value player, especially after LSG released him from an ₹11 crore deal.
SRH have Smaran Ravichandran as a backup batter, and he is in great form. But it is always better to have more options. With 10 slots open, they can also sign players like Yash Dhull, Swastik Chikara, or even Rahul Tripathi, who played his best T20 cricket for SRH earlier.
