Shaheen Shah Afridi likely to be excluded from Pakistan's upcoming Test assignments

Shaheen Shah Afridi likely to be excluded from Pakistan's upcoming Test assignmentsPakistan are reportedly considering leaving out Shaheen Shah Afridi in their upcoming Test assignment as the management eyes sweeping changes. Earlier, some reports suggested that both the side's captain and head coach will be replaced before their next Test series against West Indies, beginning July 25.

Shaheen not part of red-ball training camp

Shaheen was not named in Pakistan's 22-player pre-season Test camp, though he was part of the white-ball camp. Set to be overseen by Pakistan's head coach, Sarfaraz Ahmed, from June 8 to July 10, the Test camp could see players from the white-ball camp being called up.

Earlier, Shaheen, who is Pakistan's ODI captain, was expected to be one of those transfers but with the recent reports, he could be left to focus on white-ball.

Shaheen is also expected to return to domestic four-day competitions to work on his red-ball game. During the recent Bangladesh Test series, he played only the opening Test match, where he grabbed five wickets across both innings. This was a surface where pacers from both teams found plenty of assistance to work with, but his returns did not reflect that.

Pakistan red-ball camp squad (22 players):

Aamir Jamal, Abdullah Fazal, Abrar Ahmed, Ali Usman, Amad Butt, Azan Awais, Babar Azam, Imam-ul-Haq, Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Rizwan, Muhammad Awais Zafar, Muhammad Ghazi Ghori, Obaid Shah, Sajid Khan, Salman Ali Agha, Saqib Khan, Saud Shakeel, Shahnawaz Dahani, Shahzad Gul and Shan Masood.
