Chennai Super Kings moved up the points table with their biggest-ever IPL win, beating Mumbai Indians by 103 runs at the Wankhede Stadium. Sanju Samson set the game up for CSK with a wonderful unbeaten 101 - batting throughout the 20 overs to help the side to 207/6 in 20 overs. He single handedly took CSK to the total as the next best individual score was skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad's 22 off 14 balls.

Sarfaraz Khan (14 off 8) and Dewald Brevis (21 off 11) got starts but couldn't convert them into big scores. Jamie Overton (15 off 7) provided the finishing touches with some good shots. Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar (2/25) was the pick of the bowlers. Ashwani Kumar (2/37) continued his wicket taking form and Jasprit Bumrah enjoyed returns of 1/31.

CSK crush MI by 103 runs as Sanju Samson’s unbeaten 101 powers big win

It was a poor start for MI with the bat. Still missing Rohit Sharma at the top, the hosts gave another go to young Danish Malewar who fell for a golden duck against Akeal Hosein in the very first over. Left arm seamer Mukesh Choudhary swung the ball early and dismissed Quinton de Kock in the 2nd over of the chase. Hosein used his variations well to clean up Naman Dhir's furniture in his next over derailing the top order with the score 11/3.

World Cup winners Tilak Varma (37 off 29) and Suryakumar Yadav (35 off 30) took over the chase and stabilized the ship somewhat with a 73-run partnership for the 4th wicket. It was the Caribbean flair that sent Varma in the shed in the 12th over. Hardik Pandya could only manage 1 run, Sherfane Rutherford was the third MI batter to register a duck. Shardul Thakur replaced Mitchell Santner as the concussion sub and scored just 6 off 12 on his home ground as the spin duo of Hosein (4/17 with a wicket maiden) and Noor Ahmad (2/24) ran through the MI batting order.

Anshul Kamboj, Jamie Overton and Gurjapneet Singh enjoyed bowling to the tailenders and claimed one wicket apiece meaning each of the six CSK bowlers at least had a wicket in their kitty. The spinners combining to clinch 6/41 in their 8 overs. With this win CSK climb up the ladder from number 8 to number 5 with Mumbai Indians on the eighth position with only LSG and KKR below them. CSK will face GT at home next with MI to take on SRH at home in their next encounter.
