The road to the T20 World Cup 2026 in Africa is heating up, especially after Uganda’s stunning upset over Zimbabwe in the last cycle. This time, both Uganda and Namibia get a direct pass to the regional final after missing out on the Super Eights in the 2024 World Cup. But it’s been a tougher path for Zimbabwe, which had to start from the bottom after a poor showing last time. They played in the sub-regional qualifiers but showed their class by winning all their games against teams like Mozambique, Rwanda, and Kenya.
Kenya also did enough to make it to the regional final, along with Tanzania, Malawi, Nigeria, and Botswana, the top two teams from other sub-regional groups. With Zimbabwe now hosting the final round, and African teams growing stronger and more competitive, this year’s Africa Qualifier promises to be one of the most exciting battles yet for a World Cup spot.

| Qualified Team | Canada |
Canada, having featured at last year’s Men’s T20 World Cup in the USA and the Caribbean, arrived into the Regional Qualifier as one of the favourites to progress, especially after benefiting from USA's automatic qualification for the T20 World Cup 2026. The side kickstarted their campaign with a comprehensive 110-run win against Bermuda, setting the tone for the tournament. They followed up with a 59-run victory over the Cayman Islands and a dominant 10-wicket thumping of the Bahamas.
The Canadians secured their spot on the penultimate matchday by beating the Bahamas and watching Bermuda lose to the Cayman Islands, giving them an unassailable lead. They then closed out the tournament with another win over Bermuda on Sunday, finishing three wins clear of their nearest rival and sealing their place in the next T20 World Cup.

| Regional Final | October 1 to October 17 |
| Qualification Spots | 3 |
| Participating Teams | Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Nepal, Oman, Papua New Guinea, Qatar, Samoa, UAE |
The upcoming Asia/East Asia-Pacific Qualifier is shaping up to be one of the most exciting cricket events in the region. Nine teams from two very different parts of the world, stretching all the way from Samoa to Kuwait, will compete for just three spots in the next stage. With such a wide range of styles, cultures, and cricketing approaches, no team can be taken lightly, making the tournament feel very open and unpredictable.
Some teams, like Nepal, Oman, and Papua New Guinea, were given direct entry because they played in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Others had to battle through regional competitions. In the East Asia-Pacific region, Samoa surprised everyone by winning a close and emotional final match against Vanuatu. Meanwhile, Japan dominated their group in South Korea, going unbeaten against the hosts, the Philippines, and Indonesia to grab their spot.
In Asia, the road to qualification was tough, with 14 teams split into two groups. Malaysia and Kuwait made it through in Group A, while UAE and Qatar advanced from Group B. UAE looked strong and didn’t lose a game, and Qatar had convincing wins over regional rivals. While Oman and PNG might field new-look squads, Oman’s good recent form in one-day matches suggests they could be a serious threat, even with some fresh faces in the lineup.

Ireland will be breathing a sigh of relief after securing T20 World Cup 2026 qualification through their rankings. This means they avoid the tough European pathway, where 32 eager teams battled to stay in the race. Scotland and the Netherlands now prepare for the Regional Final starting on July 5, joined by Sub-Regional winners Italy, Jersey, and Guernsey. With strong histories, the Scots and Dutch are favourites, but the three underdogs have shown they’re ready to challenge.
Italy comes into the final full of confidence, having stormed through their Sub-Regional group. Led by new captain Joe Burns, a former Australian international now playing for Italy, they’ve added fresh strength to an already solid team. Jersey earned their spot after beating Norway in Qualifier B, while Guernsey pulled off a close chase against Denmark. With momentum and belief, all three will look to test the big names when the final begins.
