IPL is delighted to announce its sponsorship of one of the most important conferences on the IT calendar. Data Management, Information Quality & DW/BI Europe 2011 promises to be an extraordinary event, with 3 co-located conferences, 5 conference tracks and 13 pre-conference tutorials.
The IPL stand will provide delegates with access to some of the brightest talent in Information Management today. Our knowledgeable team of consultants will be on hand to discuss your Information Management challenges and offer impartial advice and expertise.
Over the 3 days, delegates will also have the opportunity to hear some of the industry's most respected thought leaders share their experiences – among them, IPL's Business Consulting Director, Chris Bradley.
On the morning of 8th November, Chris will be joined by Nik Louch, Enterprise Data Architect at Cambridge University Press, to describe an approach for evaluating information management effectiveness across an organisation. “Assessing and Improving Information Management Effectiveness” will introduce the Information Management Maturity Assessment, illustrating its use with a real life case study from Cambridge University Press. The session will describe:
- 10 key Information Management principles
- The 5 key components for developing successful Information Management principles and how to gain consensus
- Characteristics to help determine in which of the 5 maturity states (Initial, Managed, Defined, Controlled, Optimized) you currently reside
- How to build a transition plan to move from the “As-Is” state to your required “To-Be” state
- Lessons learned from how the approach was applied in Cambridge University Press
Immediately following the Cambridge University Press case study, Chris will take a look at one of the most hotly debated topics in Information Management today. “Too Good to be True? The Truth about Open Source BI” will consider the role Open Source can play in your BI solution whilst exposing some of the myths and misconceptions. Key discussion points will include:
- Open Source – does this mean free? We'll show what's included and what's not!
- Does Open Source BI have a place for me? We'll share a capability model to help you assess the fit
- Historical reporting or Predictive analytics? We discuss the differences & options
- Information Management issues in the BI world. It's not just about spreadsheets!
