“Introduction to BPMN” a huge success

October 15th, 2009

On the 28th September, IPL Business Consultants Chris Bradley and Tim Franklin hosted the half-day workshop, “An Introduction to BPMN”, at BPM Europe 2009.

This well attended workshop attracted a variety of business and technical representatives keen to get to grips with the Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN).

BPMN was designed to be intuitive and easy-to-use for business and non-technical users, while supporting robust and detailed semantics for technical users. This session provided an introduction to the BPMN standard including:

  • History
  • Purpose
  • Overview of the notation
  • Hands-on examples
  • Future direction

Chris and Tim's lively presentation was punctuated with a number of hands on examples that soon had the audience up on their feet whiteboarding. By considering their morning routine in terms of BPMN, attendees were quickly able to grasp the basics and then move on to understand some of the notation's finer points. The rapport between the presenters and the audience was so good, that the workshop continued after hours in a local curry house.

As the head of IPL's Business Consulting practice, Chris has 30 years experience in the field of business process and information management, working for numerous blue-chip clients.
