IPL wins seven year contract with Kent Police

May 9th, 2006

Since its introduction in 1996, the Genesis system has proven itself to be a key element in enabling Kent Police to pursue its highly successful intelligence-led approach to policing. IPL and Kent Police today announce that the responsibility for the support and future enhancement of Genesis has been successfully transferred to IPL under a new 7 year contract.

Genesis has at its heart a consolidated intelligence view and provides Kent Police with integrated Crime, Custody, Case and Intelligence functionality. This assisted Kent Police's operations to improve detection rates and continues to assist in reducing the level of crime in the county. Genesis also provides the force with substantial efficiency benefits by removing the need for multiple keying of data, and automatically carrying out processes that would otherwise have to be done manually.

Detective Chief Superintendent Chris Sparks of Kent Police described how the search for improved service and value-for-money led to the partnership with IPL: "We carried out an exhaustive search for a supplier that could take over the support of Genesis without introducing an unacceptable level of risk. The chosen supplier would also have to be capable of providing a responsive and high-quality development service to deliver the enhancements that are necessary to meet our needs as they evolve in today's ever-changing policing environment. The organisation that met those criteria most closely was IPL."

Mike Johnson, IPL's Commercial Director said: "We are delighted to renew our association with both Kent Police and the Genesis system that we designed and developed more than a decade ago. It is testament to the quality of that original work that no other system currently available can match the capabilities of the Genesis system to support intelligence-led policing. We look forward to enjoying a long and mutually beneficial partnership with Kent Police."
