IPL has been a major force in the Broadcast sector since the
late 1980s. Most recently, the latest DTV technology including
web access and data streaming have all been supported by
software written by IPL.
We have extensive experience in a range of digital transport
media (cable, terrestrial and satellite). We have worked on
systems at both ends of the transport stream; head-end systems
and set top boxes/integrated digital televisions. We have
worked with many systems manufacturers and broadcasters, at
both consultancy and implementation levels.
Our broadcast sector experience includes:

Integrated Receiver Decoder Software developed for customers
such as Sony, ntl:, Pace and Pioneer, using Hitachi SH-3,
ARM, Motorola 68340, Motorola Coldfire and MicroSparc, ST20
and MIPS based chipsets. Operating systems include VxWorks
pSOS, OS20 and Nucleus.

Integrated Receiver Decoder Middleware. IPL's middleware,
including MediaHighway DLI API implementations, program
download and SI engines, has been deployed in over 1 million
IRDs across Europe.

Interactive Services. IPL has developed a number of
business-centric interactive services, such as Electronic
Programme Guides (EPGs) and home shopping.

Digital Studio Equipment including an Automation File Server
(AFS), a Multi-media Digital Archive, a SimulCrypt
Synchroniser (SCS) and software for a Multiplex Control
Computer (MCC).
