Environmental policy

IPL's Environmental Policy statement is:

We have a responsibility as a company to care for the environment. This responsibility forms an essential part of how we run our business and reflects our support for the principle of sustainable development. We are committed to managing our activities which have an impact on the environment in a responsible manner and the following policy guidelines demonstrate the principal commitments we have made:

1. We shall seek to achieve environmental excellence in the delivery of all our products and services.
2. We shall comply with all applicable environmental regulations, laws and codes of practice.
3. We shall implement our policies through a coordinated environmental management system and training.
4. We shall seek to save energy whenever possible and to improve the energy efficiency of products and equipment we use.
5. We shall minimise water consumption.
6. We shall minimise waste, especially hazardous waste, and shall dispose of all waste through safe and responsible methods.
7. We shall endeavour to reduce the effects of pollution caused by waste and by the use of energy in all of our activities.
8. We shall recycle materials whenever possible as part of our waste management programme.
9. We shall dispose of all obsolete or unwanted equipment through responsible and safe channels.
10. We shall endeavour to use suppliers who have published environmental policies.
11. We shall manage our travel and transport methods to reduce their impact on the environment.
12. We shall set targets and objectives designed to improve our environmental performance.
13. In accordance with our policy of continual improvement, we shall conduct regular evaluations of our performance in implementing these policies, in complying with the Environmental Standard and with all applicable laws and regulations.
